Mayoral Candidates

Joshua P. Hardy

Josh HardyI was born and raised here in Granby, am a third generation Granby resident, and have lived in Granby most of my life. While living on the front range for a short period of time, I met my wife, Bethany. After getting married, we chose to move back to Granby to be closer to family and raise my two stepsons. We have since grown our family from 2 boys to 4. Our two younger boys attend Granby Elementary School while our other two sons are now grown adults. I work for Granby Sanitation District as a Certified Wastewater Professional, and I have done so since 2015.

I was elected in 2018 as a Trustee and served 2 years before I was elected as Mayor. As Mayor, I was recently appointed to Colorado Municipal League’s policy committee to represent Granby on the state legislative level. I also serve on Granby’s Planning Commission, the Grand County Airport Advisory Committee, and I serve on the Middle Park High School Alumni Association’s scholarship board as Executive Director.

I decided to get involved in public service because Granby is where we live and work. I want to help my community grow in a positive healthy direction since growth is inevitable as we all know. My re-election would mean that I can continue to focus on affordable housing for locals, economic development to support local business, infrastructure updates, and downtown improvements for the current residents and the generations to follow.

Jimmy Strickland

JIMMY STRICKLANDMy name is Jimmy Strickland. I have been a member of Grand County for 45 years and a resident of Granby, on and off, for the last 25 years. I am the husband to a beautiful and intelligent wife, father of 2 wonderful children, and grandpa to my new grandson. My children attended Granby Elementary School, East Grand Middle School and graduated from Middle Park High School. I am an avid outdoorsman and love snowmobiling, fishing, hunting and just spending time in the beautiful outdoors with my family and friends.

I have worked in the construction industry since I was 11 years old when I started my first business. From there I grew my business into a well-known construction company, Elk Mountain Construction, with my wife and brother. We have built many custom homes in Grand County, along with many other construction projects with the help of many local contractors and vendors. I have been part of wonderful teams and do everything I can to motivate everyone around me to strive for their full potential to create accountability and learn from mistakes. I feel it is important look at every situation as if the shoe was on the other foot and to give credit where credit is due.

I am running for Mayor, not only to help keep local businesses be or become successful, but also to make a positive difference in many of the Town of Granby’s operations and communications. I feel it is highly important to keep work and opportunities in our community local yet see the Town of Granby grow in the best ways possible. I am known as being an honest, fair, and transparent businessman and would like to bring that mentality with me when I am elected Mayor of Granby. I believe there are major changes that can be made to improve the operations and communication within the Town of Granby that will have a positive long-term effect in many aspects.

I believe in working as a team and having the right team players to get any job or task done the right way and in a timely manner is very important as well as having an open mind. I have many years of construction experience and understand development. Our town is growing and developing at a very high rate, and we need to make sure this growth has a positive long- term effect on our community for the generations to come.

Trustee Candidates

James Easley

James EasleyI am excited to announce my candidacy for the Town of Granby Board of Trustees.  I aim to bring a fresh perspective and dedicated leadership to our town’s governance.

I have been a  Grand County resident for 17 years. I have one child attending Granby Elementary school and another soon to enter pre-school. I feel this gives me an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities families in our community face.

I graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst  with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a concentration in Accounting. I work as a senior tax accountant and I am an owner of Rollin Street Bakery with partner Julie. Prior to that I worked with Winter Park Ski Patrol, Colorado Outward Bound School, and as a water/wastewater treatment plant operator for Winter Park Water and Sanitation district. These experiences have equipped me with the skills needed to make informed decisions.

Beyond my professional experience, I am a board member for the Grand County Board of Adjustment. This work has given me firsthand insight into our community’s needs and I have a track record of balanced decision making.

As a candidate, I am focused on fiscal responsibility with respect to the North Service Area Water Plant project. I would like to see improved downtown traffic and pedestrian management. Further, I hope to ensure sustainable community growth with an emphasis on Granby’s unique history. I envision a town where families thrive, businesses grow, and every resident feels connected.

Outside of my professional and community work, I enjoy skiing, mountain biking,  and the amazing local community events. I also enjoy spending time with partner Julie along with our kids Gabe and Hiro.

Daniela Gosselova

Daniela Gosselova

I was born and grew up in the former Czechoslovakia. I studied civil engineering and land surveying at the technical university in Prague. I came to the United States and to the Grand County for the first time in 1994, under the student’s J-1 Visa program. I enjoyed skiing Mary Jane, pursued carrier as a ski instructor and I then worked in the ski industry for Winter Park and other resorts in North America and Australia for couple of decades.  I also went to study accounting and economy at state Community Colleges and started to work as a bookkeeper and payroll administrator for several outdoor recreation businesses in Grand, Summit and Garfield Counties.  I move permanently to Grand County in 2008 with my husband Ted, who is an avid golfer and a ski instructor. Together we purchased our first home in Granby five years ago.

My time in Granby and Grand County has been filled with a typical “seasonal blend” of jobs in property maintenance, food industry and ranching. Currently, I am exploring the ways to regenerate a healthy forest on a parcel of land just outside of Granby.

I advocate for transparency in local government, and I interact with governmental boards and commissions on issues around health and home insurance, HOA laws and wildfire mitigation.

As a candidate for the Granby Trustee position, I’ll focus my campaign on needed changes in control over Granby’s water districts and water bills.

I think that solutions to affordability, sustainability and resiliency for the Town of Granby are in the hands of local people and not in the Town’s or State Government and I look forward to hear anyone’s thoughts on this topic in the upcoming forums.

Devon Jarrell

Devon JerrellBorn in Denver and raised in Aurora, I graduated from Gateway High School in 1996 before earning a 5-year swimming scholarship to Colorado State University, where I competed for four years.  In 2001, I graduated with a bachelor's degree in History and a minor in Political Science, equipping me with a foundation in critical thinking and problem-solving.

Following graduation, I embarked on a successful 16-year career with Marriott International.  In 2003, I relocated to St. Louis, MO., where I played a key role in launching a convention hotel that contributed to the revitalization of downtown St. Louis.  After 14 years, I felt a strong pull to return home, and in 2017, I moved to Granby to care for my grandparents’ home-a place deeply rooted in my family’s history since 1965.

Since moving to Granby, I have become immersed in the local community in ways that urban living rarely affords.  I serve on the Granby Main Street Grant Committee and joined the Granby Rotary in 2023.  As a member of the Planning Commission for the Town of Granby, I am actively involved in shaping the town’s growth.

For the past five years, I have been honored to serve as the Branch Manager for Credit Union of the Rockies.  As part of a not-for-profit cooperative, our mission is to support and empower the very community we live in.  Through responsible financial services, we help individuals and businesses thrive, driving local growth and stability.  Credit unions are more than financial institutions- they are pillars of community development, and I take pride in our role in fostering a stronger, more resilient Granby.

Granby is undergoing significant transformation, and I am committed to ensuring that the changes we experience benefit everyone.  My focus is on crucial issues like infrastructure development, particularly water management and sustainable growth.  I approach every challenge by considering the broader picture, balancing my professional expertise with a deep personal investment in the community where I live and work.  My decision-making process is informed by diverse perspectives, careful analysis and a collaborative spirit.

Being actively involved in Granby has allowed me to make a meaningful impact on, and I am eager to continue contributing to the town’s bright and evolving future.

I have lived in Granby for the past eleven years and am married with two daughters who attend Granby Elementary School. I work as a Meter Technician for Mountain Parks Electric.

Rebecca QuesadaRebecca Quesada

Hello, my name is Rebecca Quesada. I am a Colorado native and have resided in Grand County for 25 years, with the majority of that time spent in Granby. I am the proud mother of three wonderful children who have been raised in Granby and have completed their primary education through the East Grand School District.

I have been working in the hospitality industry since 2000 and currently serve as the Director of Rooms at the historic C Lazy U Ranch. In my free time, I enjoy supporting our local community by being an active member of our CrossFit gym and appreciating the great outdoors, from our beautiful lakes to hiking the mountain peaks.

In 2020, I was honored to be elected as a Town Trustee. This role has been incredibly fulfilling, and I have cherished every moment of serving as one of the town’s elected officials. I currently serve on the Administration Committee and the Public Safety Committee. Additionally, I stay actively involved with the Colorado Municipal League and their education opportunities to ensure I am fulfilling my responsibilities to our community.

I am seeking re-election to continue the important work we have started, such as our affordable housing projects and finding financial solutions to save our failing North Service Water Plant. Over the past four years, I have gained valuable experience and developed a deep passion for various aspects of our town. If re-elected, my primary focus will be on mental health, public safety, and infrastructure.

Our town is no longer the quiet community it once was. With our rapidly expanding population, it is crucial that we have the necessary services in place to support our residents. Many in our community struggle with mental health issues daily, and I aim to partner with the county to find effective solutions for those in need. Our police department is exceptional, but the demand for their services has increased significantly. We must ensure we have an adequate budget to hire enough officers to manage traffic control and other daily responsibilities and emergencies. Lastly, it is essential to focus on maintaining and improving our infrastructure to best serve our growing population.
